The distance from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is about 700 km and it would take approximately 9 to 10 hours through by road. Here are two options you can choose when travelling by road:
Private Vehicle: If you would like to travel to Chiang Mai by a private vehicle it is estimated to take around 7 to 8 hours. As Chiang Mai is located north of Bangkok it is advised to take Phaholyothin highway while driving from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
Public Bus: If you decide to take bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai it would take you around 9-10 hours to reach your destination. You easily get a bus from Bangkok’s Mochit bus terminal to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal also known as Arcade at just THB 550. And from Arcade it would take you 10 minutes’ drive to our hotel.
Chiang Mai is one of the three cities in Thailand which has an international airport; hence people from Asia who have direct flights can reach Chiang Mai International Airport. If your country does not have a direct flight to Chiang Mai then you need to fly to Bangkok and from Bangkok take a domestic flight to Chiang Mai. Domestic providers like Nok Air, Bangkok Airways are quite popular and affordable. From the Chiang Mai International Airport it is just a 10 minute drive to our hotel which most taxi would happily provide at a cost of THB 160. We could also provide airport transfer. By train the journey to Chiang Mai from Bangkok would take you around 12-15 hours depending on the stops made. From Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong train station you can get a train to Chiang Mai Train Station which also happens to be the last stop in the north. Cost of travel varies from THB 300 to 1,500 depending on the class. From Chiang Mai Train Station, our hotel is just 10 km and and could be reached within 15 to 20 minutes by songthaew or taxi.
